5 Question Interview #119

5 Questions - number 35 - name 50.jpg

With True Believers 2018 fast approaching, we put 5 Questions to Mike Garley...

What will people find at your table at True Believers 2018?

I’ll be bringing The Kill Screen, which is a sci-fi horror that explores what would happen to our world if computer errors, and computer game errors infected mankind. Samurai Slasher, which is based on a fake 80s slasher movie. And I’ll probably have a few copies of the Adventure Time Comic I wrote for too.

What do you love about creating comics?

Comics are such a vibrant and fun medium to create in that they allow people to concentrate on telling great stories, which means you can get some incredibly diverse styles of storytelling. To be involved in such a creative community is amazing and I feel like I’m constantly learning from others around me.

What part of creating comics do you find the most challenging?

Marketing and self-promotion. I hate it, but unfortunately it’s a massive part of what we do, because if no one is aware of who we are or what we’re creating then they’re a lot less likely to pick up our books.

What do you love about being at a comic con?

I really enjoy the community that a great comic con can create, as well as the atmosphere. It’s strange but it’s something pretty difficult to quantify, but you can definitely feel it when a con feels flat.

What comic - other than your own - would you recommend people read?

Western Noir, Random Trials, NPC, Slaughterhouse Farm, King Legacy, The Legend of La Mariposa, Trolltooth Wars, and The Pride.
