We put 5 Questions to Gianluca from CCTVYLLE...
Q) What’s the secret origin story of CCTVYLLE and how did it all come together?
It all started with a dream. In this dream I was in a park in London. I saw some strange creatures on the trees, I walked a bit closer to the trees and noticed that the creatures, in their dozens, where birds of different species with a CCTV camera as head. That morning when I woke up I drew a few sketches and decided to turn the dream into an art project.
Q) What inspires you to create?
On a subconscious level I do feel that the overwhelming levels of mass surveillance in London have inspired both my dream described above and the project.
Q) Since you started, what moment has been your highlight so far?
The overwhelming positive response by the public backed by so many good reviews have actually turned the whole 2 years of this project into a big highlight, however, if I have to pick one I have to say that colouring the latest issue of CCTVYLLE comics all by myself was a really intense moment.
Q) This is your first year at True Believers, what can people expect to find at your table on the day?
We are presenting CCTVYLLE comics issue 00 and 01, a monograph with over 110 pages showing the entire body of work created so far including fine art, animation and photography, large prints of some of the pages, stickers and if possible some high quality art prints.
Q) If you could pick one line that inspires you from a comic or nerd culture as your life motto, which would you choose?
"People shouldn't be afraid of their government. Governments should be afraid of their people” Alan Moore
And don't forget to stop by their table at #TBCF2017 and say "Hello".
