5 Question Interview #71...

We put 5 Questions to The Mango Dragons...

Q) What’s the secret origin story of The Mango Dragons and how did it all come together?

We are Yas and Parisa, 2 half Thai sisters! We've grown up with Asian culture having gone back and forth between the UK and Thailand all our lives. The Mango Dragons brand came together last year when Yas returned from living in Thailand for 3 years and Parisa started creating bits and bobs for Christmas markets. Now we love trying out a variety of products for the house and home (practical and decorative) with a nerdy and Asian flair!

Q) What inspires you to create?

We get our inspiration from having grown up with a variety of different cultures and appreciation of all things nerdy! We've been lucky enough to spend a lot of our time in Thailand, where anime, manga and gaming was much more widely accepted back in the day; it's great that it's becoming a lot more mainstream in Western society now! We remember that we were the first ones in our school to have the original 90s Pokemon cards, as our aunts from the States and Thailand had sent us a bunch before they were released in the UK!

Q) Since you started, what moment has been your highlight so far?

We do a lot of local (Bristol) Arts trails and markets; we were lucky enough to be interviewed by ITV West Country last year about our handpainted fans!

Q) This is your first year at True Believers, what can people expect to find at your table on the day?

We will have a variety of things, from greeting cards, handpainted fans, handmade candles and other homely things! We like the idea of having touches of nerd culture around the house and home.

Q) If you could pick one line that inspires you from a comic or nerd culture as your life motto, which would you choose?

Erza Scarlet (Fairy Tail):  "If the drive behind one's actions is the thought for another, then it is never meaningless."

Thanks Dragons.
