3 Question Interview #2

With the True Believers Summer Variant Edition fast approaching, we continue our smaller version (it's a smaller event after all) of our regular 5 Question Interview series by putting 3 Questions to Steve Tanner of Time Bomb Comics...

What will people find at your table at the event?

They'll find Flintlock. What Is Flintlock? It's my ongoing anthology series all set in the Eighteenth Century, which features the adventures of Lady Flintlock, Shanti the Pirate Queen and the Clockwork Cavalier. Each story takes place at some point between 1701 and1800 with all the characters co-existing in a shared historical timeline.  Flintlock has been conceived by me - Steve Tanner - and I write all the stories. The incredible talents of Anthony Summey, Lorenzo Nicoletta and Ed Machiavello have produced the art and they've done a stunning job.   The first two books in the Flintlock series are currently published and they've been terrifically well-received, in part because as well as having some rip-roaring historical adventure stories Flintlock features genuinely different lead characters. I'm looking forward to seeing what the True Believers crowd think of it.

What is your favourite part of being behind a table at a comic-con?

Meeting the people at the other side of the table of course!  Most of my comics are sold at cons (it's why I do so many of them) and it's great to directly engage with folks about the comics I create, comics in general and pretty much anything else that folks want to talk with me about.  I like to meet new creators too, and if they have some samples of their work that's even better as I'm always happy to give some honest feedback if I'm able to do so.  Whatever the type of comics you create, it's the readers of those comics that ultimately matter, so it's always a joy to see them and the traditional comic-con experience is the perfect way to do that.

What can you tell us about what you're working on next and when can we expect to get it?

Flintlock is taking up most of my creative time - Book Three is underway as is the first Flintlock Special - but this year marks my tenth year with Time Bomb Comics so I've been putting something together to mark that momentous occasion.  Nothing officially announced yet (I want to to make sure some artwork deadlines are hit before I do!) but it's slated for October this year as I released my first indie comic back on October 2007.

You can find more Flintlock at the True Believers Summer Variant Edition and on the Facebook Page.
