5 Question Interview: Guest Edition #13

We put 5 Questions to #TBCF2017 Guest Andrew Wildman...

What’s the secret origin story that led to you working in comics?

Two college friends. One is a writer by the name of Pat Kelleher. We did some fan strips together in the early 90's. He managed to get a writing gig with 'London Editions' based in Manchester and got me through the door to draw 'Bravestarr' and some 'He-Man'. Other was John Tomlinson who was an editor at Marvel UK. He asked me to do a two page tryout for Thundercats. BOOM! I was up and running.

What inspires you to create?

Money. Really. Other than that I am pretty bloomin lazy unless its when I produced my book, HORIZON. With that I really wanted to express something of me.

What’s your favourite thing about what you do?

Drawing pictures for a living. You kidding? What's not to like ;-)

Since you started, what moment – so far - has been your highlight?

In comics; the best pencil work I ever did was the final issue of 'Force Works' for Marvel.

In TV; Storyboarding for Doctor Who. Awesome.

Creatively the best thing I have achieved is conceiving and completing HORIZON.

Personally the best thingI have done is create 'Draw the World Together'

If you could pick one line that inspires you from a comic or nerd culture as your life motto, which would you choose?

'At last I know where I am going. Where I have always been going. Home, the long way round.'
