We put five questions to writer Tony Cooper...
Who are you and what do you do?
My name is Tony Cooper and I'm primarily a science fiction author, but I also do freelance writing for video games and anything else that interests me.
What can people expect to find at your table at True Believers?
I will have signed copies of both my superhero novels "Powerless" and "Killing Gods". If you're lucky (and if I write it fast enough) you might be able to buy the third book too. I will also have my short story collection "The Resurrection Tree and Other Stories" for sale, and a science fiction comedy novella which I have almost finished the first draft of.
What’s your favourite thing about what you do?
The ability to write or type words on a page and have those words convey an entire world, or culture or person never ceases to amaze me. And when I can do it, I'm even more amazed! It's that storytelling urge really, and it gets stronger and easier the more you write.
What was the first comic you collected?
The first comic I had a subscription for from my local newsagent was the UK run of Transformers comics. The classic Simon Furman and Geoff Senior era. Loved the stories and loved the art.
If you had to recommend one comic (or story arc) to people, which would it be?
'Y: The Last Man' springs to mind immediately for the writing and characters, but the one that sticks with me the most and that I could recommend to anyone is the graphic novel 'The Arrival' by Shaun Tan.
Be sure to check out Tony's website and stop by his table at True Believers 2016 and say hello.
