We put 5 questions to Collette J Ellis...
Who are you and what do you do?
My name is Collette J Ellis, I’m a fantasy illustrator from North Wales and medieval arms and armour designer for ‘The Knight Shop Int’. Most of my work is fantasy based, drawing inspiration from myths and legends from around the world. I work primarily in watercolour and occasionally dabble in digital painting and mixed media.
What can people expect to find at your table at True Believers?
I’ll be selling limited hand signed prints, on the spot commissions, jewellery, original art and more.
What’s your favourite thing about what you do?
I love the research aspect, discovering a new legend to illustrate and inspire more creations. There’s also experimenting with new papers and materials, pushing ideas and coming up with new critters.
What was the first comic you collected?
I’ll admit.. I never read comics as a child, it wasn’t until I was older and discovered this beautiful, creative story telling medium. It’s always been something I’d like to have a go at. I’ve always admired the level of talent required to draw consistently in that way.
If you had to recommend one comic (or story arc) to people, which would it be?
I’ve always been inspired by Tolkien’s stories and the film work of Hayao Miyazaki, they have had a huge influence on my work and interests.
