The 5 Question Interview: Guest Edition with Rachael Smith

We put questions to Artist and writer (and True Believers 2016 guest) Rachael Smith...

What’s your favourite thing about what you do?

It’s a tie between getting to tell stories for a living, and getting to wear my pyjamas all day. (unless I have to go to the post office).

What was the first comic you remember reading/collecting?

Sonic the Comic! I remember lying on the living room floor as a kid copying the pictures into my sketchbook.

Which comic or comic book character would you most like to work on if you were given the chance?

I find it a lot more rewarding to write my own characters, but if I had to pick I’d love to work on something with The Lumberjanes. Oh, and I’d love to draw anything written by Ryan North.

If you had to recommend one comic (or story arc) to people, which would it be?

I’m really enjoying Squirrel Girl right now!

What was the first comic you were paid to work on?

Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor series. I do the humour strips. I’ve been doing it for almost a year – it’s a great gig.

Thanks Rachael.
