We gave comic creator Jack Devereaux 5 Questions. He gave us 5 Answers...
Who are you and what do you do?
I'm Jack, and I create comics. I love building new worlds in my books, and making weird and fun characters.
What can people expect to find at your table at True Believers?
Issue #1 of my mini-series Camera-Man. Camera-Man's quiet, reclusive and not very good with other human beings. So being a masked vigilante might seem odd. But after meeting another hero, the plucky BoomBox, maybe he'll learn to make friends as they take on the Cassette Head Crew! Or it could go horribly wrong...It might go horribly wrong...Oh god what has he gotten himself into!?
Oh and I'll have set of prints.
What’s your favourite thing about what you do?
I'd say creating characters and worlds. I always love it when a book takes place somewhere that isn't Earth.
What was the first comic you collected?
My first comic was a combo of Ultimate Spider-Man #3 and Astonishing Spider-Man #91 "The Triumph of the Green Goblin!". Been a Spider-Fan (hur hur hur) ever since. It was great fun reading the original teenage super hero.
If you had to recommend one comic (or story arc) to people, which would it be?
You mean one shelf right? No? Hmm, just the one....okay, probably have to be. King City by Brandon Graham because you will never read anything as weirdly wonderful. It has some terrific characters, and a big bizarre story that is all about how these people deal with living in King City. Not to mention the art work is fantastic and shows the evolution of Graham's style. Theres a big 400+ page beast that has both books, and a bunch of cool extras.
